Creo que Puerto Rico debe utilizar este tecnología. Cuando yo vivía allí, oí que tiene la energía mas caro del mundo, y que es bien sucio (es de petroleo). Este energía reusable nuevo presenta una oportunidad buena para desarrollar.

Impresionante este sistema de energía. Pero lamentablemente no le conviene a las industrias del petroleo. Antes de que este sistema sea contruido e instalado las compañías de petroleo junto a los gobiernos compraran la tecnología y la destruiran sin que tu y yo nos demos cuenta. Son unos desgraciados!!!!!!!!!!

Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion is not “Perpetual motion”. It involves the proven concept of generating mechanical motion from temperature differences. It is exactly how generators which use fossil fuel operate, except with much greater temperature differences. If the temperature of the deep water and the surface water were the same or nearly the same, it would not be possible. OTEC is not possible in the Northern Latitudes with cold surface water.

Furthermore, learning how to design and build these units in Puerto Rico will enable Puerto Rioco to control its own future. Energy is the critical component of all modern civilization. Puerto Rico is uniquely able to become energy independent.

Por otra parte, aprender a diseñar y construir estas unidades en Puerto Rico va a permitir que Puerto Rioco para controlar su propio futuro. ALG: inmoral sería no considerar un sistema como éste, aunque tome tiempo y dinero. El ahorro nada más en petróleo puede ayudar a financiar estos sistemas. Si atraemos a más industrias con electricidad más barata podemos competir de nuevo y traer más empleos a Puerto Rico…

la tecnologia que convierte los rayos del sol en electricidad es mucho mas simple que un motor de combustion interna que funciona con diesel basicamente sale mas barato reemplazar un controlador solar que reparar un enorme motor diesel (cualquiera que tenga un camion diesel o una planta electrica que se le haya danado puede confirmarlo) de todas formas el video habla sobre OTEC no de solar asi ke deberia estar en otro lado el comentario.

OTEC is being considered again by PREPA and by other utilities in the Tropics (PREPA had designed a 40 MW OTEC unit in 1981). It is a renewable energy source that can put the future of Puerto Rico in its own hands. Privately funded (no risk to PREPA)units can be made on the island, providing jobs in manufacturing and operation. The first 75 MW unit will enable PREPA to avoid purchasing one million barrels of oil each year, 100 MW units will save 1.3 million barrels of oil each year.

me veo en la obligacion moral de cuestionar estos sistemas renovables. Entiendo el desespero que tiene el pais de buscar otras fuentes de energia que no vengan del petroleo, pero precisamente por eso existen ciertas companias que tratan de enganarnos. La energia solar no se obtiene solo con placas, tiene que haber una tecnologia detras de ellas que conviertan lo solar en electrico y si se danan los equipos ¿quien va a ir a repararlos y a que costo?, mi gente cuidado con los buscones..aka PPR

I have my doubts here. Although the presentation was interesting and it may seen to be something to be considered, I have to question whether or not our island’s budget have the strenght to built such a mass type of structures. 50 of these will do it and it is painfuly costly. Also, I dont know if the initial cost is justified if only is going to benefit 75,000 homes. Finally is this take in consideration our existing electrical system and how this can be compatible with such?
